Install Solaris On A Pc

While at the Microsoft Virtualization launch event on September 8th I wandered by the Sun booth and they indicated that support for Solaris 10 x86 was available on Hyper-V.So I tried to install Solaris 10 05/08 x86 on Hyper-V. It did not work. The dnet adapter is not recognized and no packets flow through it.I have searched Google and other sources to no avail. I can't find a solution to this problem. Does anyone have a solution to this issue or know who to contact that could provide an answer? Thanks. Bill,OK, I understand there are integration components available for Windows and Linux OS as guests. Do you know where I can find the integration components for Solaris 10 x86?

Is there a URL to download them from?I was using the Legacy Network adapter for the Solaris 10 x86 Hyper-V guest installation. This shows up as a dnet adapter in Solaris 10, which I am told is a DecNet 2114.In contrast I have successfully installed Solaris 10 x86 as a guest OS on VMWare Workstation, Server and ESX.

The network adapter emulated is the e1000g, which is an Intel Pro 1000 MT.Do you know why it works with VMWare, but not Hyper-V?Thanks. Did it today! Of course you have to use legacy network adapter and disks (=forget anything about integration services).

What you really have to do is to add a serial port to your vm connected on a named pipe. Afterwards, you can use putty to connectto the serial port.pipeSolaris cannot be installed using your vga console connection to your vm. You have to use serial connection!Performance of course seems rather poor. I will test it in a real work situation later.

Install Solaris 11

NoteThe file transfer API in Java is available only for the Sun Solaris SPARC platform architecture.Tectia ConnectSecure includes support for Zones on Solaris 10. The Tectia software can be installed into the global and local zones. When the Tectia software is installed into the global zone, it becomes automatically installed also into the existing local zones. However, if the local zones are added into the system later, the Tectia ConnectSecure needs to be separately installed on them.In case you are installing Tectia ConnectSecure into a sparse zone, note that the installation process will report a failure in creating symlinks.
